It also has a good USB music player

I was looking for a receiver to replace my 20-year-old Denon that still works perfectly, but draws a lot of power even when there is no sound, and it lacks the newer HDMI interfaces, and newer digital coding standards. So I was surprised to find this newer Denon that draws about half the power of the older one, has HDMI switching, and newer decoding, such as Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital Plus, and newer DTS decoding as well. It also has the ability to turn off via my TV and/or DirecTV remote control via the HDMI interface. It also has a good USB music player, which even has scrolling track information on it’s front panel, in addition to the HDMI TV display. For such a low price, this was a great upgrade.

Great receiver for the price

Very pleased with this receiver. The setup worked great. You do need to have a tv connected to complete the setup. I am not running any video through the receiver, so I just connected a hdmi to a tv to complete the setup, and I was glad I did. The setup automatically adjusts the speakers to your room (it has a microphone that you set in the middle of the room). It worked perfectly. I have a digital audio connection to my tv and I use the bluetooth to play music through my Amazon echo. They both sound great. One feature I really like is you can easily configure the panel buttons to switch to a source (tv), set the best surround mode, and set a good starting volume. One touch of the button sets up everything. Only negative so far is the manual is a online pdf, but this seems to be the industry standard.

Works with my existing speakers

This receiver worked with my existing speakers but I had to buy a small amp to convert my subwoofer. 3x 4K HDMI plus another 2x HDMI is amazing, I am able to hook everything I need up and just use my receiver to change inputs. Couldn’t ask for more – bought two refurb off Amazon and both are great. Saved a good chunk of cash. No complaints.

Denon does it again!

Another great AV Receiver from Denon. This makes my third, and they’ve all been solid performers. i upgraded to this unit for the HDMI ARC (audio return channel) function, which allows me to control the volume using the remotre from my TCL Roku TV (also awesome). It sounds great, it works well, and looks good with my other components.

Good Quality Receiver

I love the sound quality of this receiver paired with new Polk speakers — bookshelf and woofer. It easily covers all audio levels I can hear with crisp, clear sound. 4 stars because 1) pairing to blue tooth is a pain and 2) the remote volume control is slow to respond to adjustment taps and is like a rocket when you press it for a longer period of time. Still, it produces a great sound.

Great Receiver. I had an older Denon that worked beautifully. I upgraded to a 4K TV and, although the older model still worked fine, I was noticing some things and in particular, I couldn’t get sound from Netflix and had to use a ROKU instead of the new TV”s built-in app. Plus, once more 4K programming becomes available, the older model will become more obsolete.

Great receiver for the money

Great receiver for the money. It will accommodate analog devices along with the digital ones. So far I only use it for my CD and DVD players and a Sony turntable. The turntable has its own pre-amp which made it all the more easier to hook up but had to go analog. With some newer turntables you can probably go digital. If you have trouble hooking up a turntable, Denon recommends that you get the manufacturer’s turntable specs, and it may also mean having to download software. You’re pretty much on your own on this. I use the optical cable to connect my newer CD player to the optical input on the receiver for digital sound which keeps me from having to go analog. The stereo tuner works fine. There is a work-around for AM setup in which you get an AM antenna included with the receiver. The only complaint is the setup which you have to perform through your TV. I ended up having to get an optical cable in order to complete it but it was only a few dollars and well worth the inconvenience.

For the money this is a great receiver

For the money this is a great receiver. We love the Bluetooth part too as I can play my iPod Nano through with ease. Set up with our older Sony TV was somewhat easy – and I appreciated the audio balancing you need to do during setup. Our surround sound has improved —(our receiver was 15+ years old!).

Has all the needs for 5.1 without over-complication

This AV receiver had all the basic ‘bells and whistles’ I needed to make my home theater work without getting over-complicated. I didn’t need 7.1 audio since I already had a 5.1 system built into the ceiling of the room. The 5 HDMI ports (3 @ HDCP 2.2 for 4K) was enough for all my devices. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I haven’t got the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) to work with my Smart TV. There is probably something I need to enable on the AV receiver (I already enabled CEC on the TV). When/if I figure that out, I’ll adjust my rating to 5 stars.
