LG Region free DVD player with HDMI input
Once it properly connected and reprogrammed, this product works fine. At the time of purchase, it is not explained that this item is made in Asia and that not all DVDs in the North American Region will play on this device. Anyone who purchases this DVD player needs to go on the internet to get the instruction on how to reprogram this item so it plays DVDs from around the world. This is done by resetting the region code from two to zero. When you search the internet, it will give you the necessary steps on how to do this.
Does exactly what they claim!
I am in the U.S., with a non-smart U.S. HD television set. I needed something that would play both PAL and NTSC DVDs on my non-international TV, and I was REALLY hoping to find something that would do it all using an HDMI cable. I had heard horror stories that I needed a special television as well as DVD player, or that RCA cables (it does come with them) would need to be used in order for the audio and/or video for certain regions to work properly. That HDMI wasn’t an option for out of region discs. This one wasn’t too expensive, and I figured if it didn’t work, I could return it. It was worth a shot.
This unit works as it should. It was hooked up in less than a minute. I have a 4K TV, just connect to an available HDMI port with the included HDMI cable and plugged it in. It comes with an adapter for 120v here in the USA. No problems. Have only watched region 1 DVDs and a BBC television series (Miranda) that I bought on Amazon. Not sure what region that is, but NOT region1. It will not play on a USA region 1 player, that’s the reason why I bought this one. I did pay $49 for the player, (actually not a bad price for any DVD player, but considering the fact that it’s supposed to play DVDs from ANY region, quite good, I thought) however, since the UK TV series I wanted to order came as 3 seasons plus the finale, for about $22 dollars, ( MUCH cheaper than most SINGLE SEASON American TV series I purchase) I feel that I got a very good value for my money! $49 (player) + $22 (DVD set) = $ 71 ÷ 3 seasons = about $24 per season. VERY Nice! AND, I now have a player that will play discs from any region! You’re not getting THAT bonus buying American TV for $24 / season. I’ll continue to watch my region 1 discs ( all types) on my up scaling 4K blu – ray player, because the picture and sound quality are unbeatable there, but this player does a very decent job on a disc that I would otherwise be unable to experience at all. Very happy. Recommended. Oh, and I didn’t have to do any programming or fancy stuff to set it up, I’ve only had to use the remote for the most basic functions, but that was completely self explanatory and user friendly. Even came with batteries. Was well packed, arrived in perfect condition, with easy instructions and in good time.
I’ve had this multi-region DVD player for 5 months and it plays Region 1 & Region 2 DVDs like a charm. Setting it up was quick w/ the included HDMI cable, and I didn’t have to fuss w/ the settings to get a great picture. That it’s smaller than the cable box is a bonus.
Outstanding and affordable Region Free DVD player.
Update: Ordered and received a scond one. Plugged it in and it worked flawlessly Tested on both Region 1 and Region 2 DVD’s. Also checked the USB port and it reads flash drives just fine. I highly recommend this product. (Original review for the first one below).
So far…so good
I got some DVDs from Spain that were in English but didn’t realize you can’t play them on a regular US DVD player. I ordered this one because it had HDMI option (cable included). It hooked up easily to TV and works fine so far.
Plays Region 2&4 PAL and All other DVD’s
I am so happy this works to play my Horrible Histories DVD’s (which are Region 2&4 PAL UK). But this little DVD player also plays ALL other DVD’s that we have (even copies). It’s smaller than my cable box, which is nice to keep the bulk down on my tv stand. I’ve only had it about two weeks and used it twice, so hopefully, it’ll last us a long time!
Excellent picture quality at an affordable price.
I was looking for a compact basic DVD player for our RV. This unit meets those needs in spades. It plays almost everything I’ve thrown at it, (or in it). Unlike a previous commentor, it does not include the HDMI cable. But for less than $10 we were in business. The HDMI connectivity is a bonus and the up converting is beautiful on this value priced unit. Another small bonus, the DVD player remote controlled both the power and volume on our TV without having to program it. That was a nice surprise. The euro converter plug is slim and works fine. The only issue might be unplugging.
Nice simple & affordable DVD player
This DVD player does everything I need and at a price that fits my budget. I have used it to play DVDs (regular, not blueray), CDs, and to display picture slide shows from a USB memory stick. I shopped quite awhile to find a unit that did just these 3 things, and this one fits the bill perfectly. My only tiny complaint is that it comes with one of those very large British power plugs which I couldn’t fit down behind my entertainment system. I simply used the included adapter and a short extension cord. No problem! So far I am very happy with this item.
