Great unit (if you take good care of electronics)

Make sure you get the model that has the HDMI out as well as RCA cable connection (S700). A couple of things:

Simple, straight forward, reasonable price.

Simple, straight forward & not a lot of extra buttons, programming, remote function issues .. for the price, it is a good product and good value for what it is advertised as. We just wanted something to watch the occasional DVD or listen to a music CD without the hassles of programming, hookup or extra messing around. This is all that. Just plug in, pop in the DVD/CD and hit play .. viola. Happy with this purchase.

A Good Solid DVD Player

I desperately need a good solid DVD player, and after reading reviews of the Panasonic DVD Player DVD-S700 (Black), I decided to purchase it

This is the one you’ve been looking for!

Wonderful! We wanted a simple unit that would play CDs. We looked at dozens of very sad reviews and finally settled on a Samsung unit because its reviews were not as bad as most of them. Sad state of affairs to be left with that option, but that seems to be the new normal. Well, it arrived, long story short, it was junk, quit in three days and we returned it. We found this Panasonic quite be accident. It had good reviews and it’s perfect for us. Very simple controls, solid performance, and unlike most of the ones on which I read reviews for, this one is absolutely silent. You can barely hear the disc start to spin up and once going, it is silent. It loads quickly and if I could give it six stars, I would. Way to go, Panasonic!

Good basic DVD player!

Good DVD player for the price! Works great! Slim and lightweight. The DVD tray is a little flimsy so I suggest being careful when you use it. Not sure how little force might cause it to break. The only thing I don’t like is when watching a DVD and you zoom out for a larger picture, the icon/work “ZOOM 1, ZOOM2” show continuously in the left upper screen. I contacted Panasonic support and was told there was no way to hide that. Most of the time I can ignore it but sometimes it is in the way, obscuring your vision of a section of the movie.

Panasonic is good, at least for now

I have started buying and watching a lot of DVDs, as I am in the process of getting away from cable TV and therefore wanted a second DVD player, just in case the one I had died. I am now watching DVDs about 6 hours a day. The one I had at the time was a Panasonic, which I had had for about 7 years and knew it was getting old, so I bought a cheap LG as a backup, as I have an LG TV, which works great and wanted two different brands of DVD players (I didn’t want both DVD players to turn on when I only wanted one turned on).

Great Value

I’m very happy with this purchase. I rebelled against buying a dvd player for a couple years, which left me fiddling with hdmi cords that didn’t always work properly with my laptop, so I finally caved in. All I wanted was a basic dvd player that worked, even if I could find it on craigslist. No such luck on craigslist because after doing ample research on amazon, this one was still cheaper than all the dvd players I saw on CL (and was guaranteed to work out of the box). I bought it back in Nov 2015, so I’ve got a solid 2 months worth of use since it’s purchase, and there have been no problems whatsoever. I’m really confused about a review I read stating that this dvd player has bad memory and can’t pick up where you left off if you turn it off?? Not true. I have put discs that were played weeks ago into the player and it picks up where I last left off. Another feature I really like is that if it sits idle for too long (haven’t timed it to know specifically how long, but definitely enough time), it will turn off automatically. Sometimes I’ll pause a movie and go change laundry or make dinner and I’ll forget I had it on. Being an eco-conscious individual (though apparently not when I leave my tv on and walk away), I appreciate the back-up support of the automatic turn off 🙂 All in all, I’m happy with the product and I’d recommend it to others looking for a basic dvd player.

Works as it should. DVD tray is a little flimsy so you can’t be rough with it. Overall, very satisfied with player.

DVD player with CRT type television

Works very well. We use it with our CRT type television via the composite connection. The remote is larger than many which come with other DVD players today. For those, who like myself, have larger hands the larger remote is a real plus. The DVD reacts faster to the commands from the remote. Very good quality picture using standard DVD’s.
