This is my first Roku product. I got frustrated with my Chromecast not casting Amazon prime, plus the quality looked bad on my TV. I bought the refurbished 3600 streaming stick because for one, as frustrated as I was with my Chromecast, it’s all I ever knew of streaming devices. Second, I wanted to stay as close to my $35 Chromecast just Incase I wasn’t happy with the Roku stick. The Roku stick arrived early, which was a bonus, and surprisingly more simple to set up than my Chromecast. I like the remote, actually…I LOVE the remote. It’s nice to be able to use my phone, but for my 7 year old who is not allowed on our smartphones, finding TV shows with the Chromecast was difficult. (We only stream TV, we cut the cord over a year ago). My 7 year old easily can navigate through the home screen, and search using the remote. But she also found out (something she taught me and dad) she can cast her YouTube videos on the TV via the cast button as well. I also love the quality of video. My Chromecast claimwdbto cast at 1080p, but it was always bad, colors were off even, and with the fastest available cable internet available in my rural area (the middle speed out of 3 choices. It’s 15,30, or 50mpg’s or something, im not sure the lingo for speed) our Chromecast constantly buffered and crashed. A month before buying the Roku I lowered my internet connection to the slowest speed available because of money. The Roku stick, on with the lowest cable internet package available, and with 3 smartphones, a Dell desktop running Windows 10, and a nabi dream tab ALL connected to my wifi, streams beautiful picture quality with no buffering. My TV is worth watching again! I can access content not available on my Chromecast (Amazon prime for example) and again, i can’t stress how much I love the home screen and remote. My husband is also very happy with the product, to the degree we will be buying another one cause our Chromecast is laying in a dresser drawer, and we move the roku stick from the living room to the bedroom TV. And in the end, my awesome refurbished streaming stick cost LESS than the Chromecast, and was shipped to my mailbox. After taxes, the 18mile drive one way to Walmart to buy the Chromecast, and 18miles back, the $5 dollars more for the refurbished stick was way less in the end. And I don’t know if this is a good thing or not, haha, but we enjoy watching TV again! (Maybe too much since I’m getting less sleep catching up on shows on Amazon I haven’t been able to watch!!!) Thanks for this wonderful product!
The certified refurbished Roku streaming stick 3600R was packaged well with the remote, usb cable, power adapter and instruction manual all you need to get started streaming. There where no blemishes and it appears like new condition. I plugged it in to my Vizio 50 1080P LED smart tvs HDMI port hooked up the USB power cord to one of the USB ports on the tv and was up in running in with no problems. I have an older Roku 2 so right away I noticed the speed differences the stream stick is 10x quicker loading and more responsive with little to no delay. Netflix and Amazon appear different with HD characteristics as you scroll thru kinda like std cable vs hd with previews. I dropped the cable/satellite tv providers and strictly stream everything now with better options and more control. Most of the smart TVs are very limited with channel selection so I researched options I feel the Roku is the best bang for the buck and have been using my Roku 2 for multiple years with great results. I am very happy with the price and quality and would purchase another.
The roku streaming stick is better than I thought it would be. The picture is so clear, just like watching tv programs in HDTV. The added bonus is not having to pay exorbitant rates for cable or satellite when you only watch a few channels anyway. The fact that is was used/refurbished goes unnoticed . It looks new and works fine. The only problem I had was in the set up since instructions were minimal. I don’t know if new sets come with more instructions or not but if you have a problem setting it up just click on this link:
Huge fan – stick needs power!
Having used Roku at home for more than 4 years I expected the streaming stick to work great. It works great. One cautionary note, it was not clear that the stick needs to be powered. I think there was a comment it will work without being powered. Thats not true. It comes with a small usb cable and outlet adapter or if you have a USB port on your TV it can be powered that way but you must provide power one way or the other. In my application that was a challenge but I figured out a way.
Rave Roku Review
This is my second Roku Stick but this one was purchased specifically as a replacement for the first one (earlier version) I bought. This one, with a ‘quad-core’ processor is much faster than the previous one thus providing a more satisfying viewing experience. With also having two Roku3 units, you might get the idea I was into ‘cable cutting.’
Works as well as the larger models and is super portable
I bought this for a TV I mounted and I didn’t want to have any DVD players, Sound Bars, Subwoofers, etc… hanging off of it. This was perfect. It works just as well as my other “full” Roku device. The WiFi setup was simple and I’ve not had any issues so far with the network lagging. The picture quality if super clear. The best part is it’s powered off the USB port in my TV. In other words, the “stick” plugs into an HDMI port. Then, it’s powered by a micro-USB to full-USB cable you use to connect the stick to any powered USB port on the TV. You may want to check before buying to ensure you have a powered USB port on your TV. If you don’t, you still have the option to plug this in.
Roku Streaming Stick (3600R) – Refurbished
We currently have three Rokus in our house including this Streaming Stick. This is the only stick (we also have an Ultra and a TCL TV with Roku built in) and we got it for the TV in our bedroom – and because it is super portable so we can take it with us if need be. There is not much that I’m going to say about Roku in general or the Streaming Stick in particular that hasn’t already been said so I’m not going to post my usual list of Pros and Cons.
4K is a while away, just get this….
Best streaming device available. The refurb was good although the batteries were DOA, making me think the remote was DOA. Overall the product arrived well packed and works perfectly.
