What you need to know before and after buying this…

If your TV doesn’t support Audio Return Channel on HDMI, you won’t be happy. If it does, you may find that only one HDMI port on your TV supports it and that is the one to use. If you must use Wifi instead of Ethernet cable, you’ll need an adapter because it doesn’t have it built-in. When connecting the wires to the speakers, make sure that the black wires connect to the black sockets. If the wires are reversed, sound will come out, but the system won’t sound the way it should. Also make sure that you don’t push the insulated part of the wire into the socket. After locking in the wire, pull on it gently to make sure it’s secure. The other end of each speaker wire must be pushed into the receiver until it snaps in. Power up the receiver, go to the settings and do the firmware update. When that is done, go through every option on the settings menu. In the audio section you will find settings to specify the distance between the place where you sit and each speaker. After you set all the distances, run the test to make sure that each speaker is properly connected. If this sounds too difficult for you, ask the person who helps you with your computer problems to do it for you. After that, try reading the manual so you know how to use it. Virtually all of the poor reviews are due to incorrect setup (wiring and settings), not upgrading the firmware, and/or not reading the setup instructions and user manual. I left off one star because it was really stupid to leave out the WiFi. But they probably left that out because it’s just another thing for users to get wrong. NOTES: Ethernet cable must be CAT 5e or higher. HDMI cable must support 1.4a. Don’t expect to watch Netflix over DSL, or if your router is old. And have you updated your router firmware lately?

Item behaves as expected and is plenty loud for my (smallish) bedroom where the unit is located. Unit and my TV both support ARC and so the TV sound (and HDMI2 input which is connected to my PC) play through the 5.1 speakers! Automatically powers off the Blu ray/amplifier when the TV shuts down (even with the sleep timer) which is very convenient.

Good little system for the low price.

Pleasantly surprised with this system. The speakers were smaller than my previous system, but in this day and age, size isn’t a deal breaker. Bose saw to that. My old system had a sound bar for the center speaker, this one has a small speaker just like the R/L surrounds. Sound quality was great for suck a small system. The player was half the size of my previous one, but that was actually a bonus and left more shelf space.

Set up was easy. Sound quality is good for the price

Buying a blu ray home theater system under $150, obviously I wasn’t looking for studio quality sound from the speakers, but adding functionality and features to my home entertainment system. That was indeed what I got. Set up was easy. Sound quality is good for the price. Includes apps (netflix, hulu etc) which add smart functionality to your TV if you don’t already have. The FM capability is also nice. An included optical cable would be nice. I chose this over the 1000 Watt model which lacks Bluetooth feature, which is nice way to play music from your smartphone/tablet. Overall, feature packed and neat system.

I highly recommend this for Samsung tv’s especially. It took me less than an hour to set up and everything that came with the package was so neatly Organized! I might even buy another one for another one of my tv’s honestly.

Great sound

Easy to hook up. Nice slim box. Tiny speakers that pack lot of sound. Husband wasn’t happy I made him remove the base speaker, it was too loud lol. At least until the babies are older. Only downfall is no wireless transmitter. So we would have to buy that to use the apps mode? I think that’s cool tho, bc we could go on Netflix on this instead of the xbox. For the price, excellent.

Not quite plug&play but happy with my purchase.

A nice system for a good price

A nice looking system for the price. I installed it quickly and it’s more than enough sound than I need. I connected via Bluetooth easily to my phone and Pandora sounded great. I connected the TV with an optical cord and HDMI cable, the only thing that’s missing is the Wi-Fi but that was on the more expensive model and since I already have a fire stick on the TV I really don’t need to connect the surround sound to the internet. Even though it’s last year’s model it was a leap forward from the 10 year old system it replaced. Samsung’s been getting better and better.
